An innovative and experienced litigator and appellate attorney

Amy started the practice of law as a public defender in Washington, DC and was selected for membership on the U.S. Panel of the Superior Court for the District of Columbia. Eventually, she branched out into civil practice with a particular focus on complex commercial litigation and appellate work. Since returning to Ohio in 2012, Amy has continued her practice as a trial and appellate lawyer, representing clients in both state and federal courts in a wide variety of matters including fraud, commercial and contract disputes, securities law, domestic relations, personal injury, legal malpractice and other issues.

Amy was born in Cleveland and raised in Northeast Ohio by a single father. When she was young, her dad was a public defender, and he taught her to always fight for the underdog with tenacity and persistence. She was fascinated with stories about his cases, and when he went into private practice, she used to love visiting him at the office. She didn’t realize then (and he’d probably deny it if asked) that he was grooming her to be a lawyer, too. In retrospect, it’s hard to miss since disputes in their house were always resolved in “family court” – where argument was an art form!

Amy A. Wuliger, attorney | Wuliger & Wuliger, Cleveland Business Law firmAfter college, Amy moved to Washington, DC where she worked in the agriculture industry – first, at a trade association promoting U.S. agricultural exports, and later, at a newswire service. Nevertheless, her fascination with the legal system never waned. She attended law school in the evenings at Georgetown University and, following in her father’s footsteps, became a public defender. She tried – and won – her first case just six weeks after being admitted to the DC Bar. Since then, Amy has tried dozens of cases, both criminal and civil, and participated in countless evidentiary hearings in federal and state courts located in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Florida and the District of Columbia. Amy has also handled dozens of cases in federal and state courts of appeals.

Since joining forces with her father full time in 2005, Amy’s efforts have contributed to the award of over $65 million in settlements and judgments for their clients. In 2012, she left the Washington, DC metropolitan area and returned to Cleveland with her husband and three children. When she and her father decided to start their own firm in 2016, their vision was to create a full-service law firm with a “small firm” atmosphere.

SOME OF AMY’S MORE NOTABLE CASES INCLUDE:
  • Gas Natural Inc. v. Osborne, 624 Fed.Appx. 944 (6th Cir. 2015) – In a case involving the interpretation of federal securities law relating to proxy solicitations, Amy authored the appellate briefs which resulted in the reversal of an order enjoining our client from communicating with shareholders of a public corporation.
  • Liberte Capital Group v. Capwill, U.S. District Court (N.D. Ohio), case no. 5:99 CV 818 – Amy represents a federal equity receiver in viatical fraud class action litigation and related proceedings, including numerous lawsuits against insurance companies and financial institutions which have resulted in the recovery of over $12,800,000 in misappropriated funds for defrauded investors.
  • Shimola v. Westlake, Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court, case nos. CV-95-290879, CV-95-291489, CV-96-315754 & 04-CV-548603 – Amy authored briefs which resulted in the reversal of an unfavorable arbitration award and ultimately led to a $15,000,000 settlement for our client in a zoning dispute.
